The best way to enjoy
the Champagne Trail

The English-speaking "vigneronne"

As kids, my brother Jérôme and myself often helped our father making wine. But, for years, I told him that I would never come back on the estate. I was like Z from the animated movie AntZ pretty sure that "there has to be a better place".

I qualified in 1999 as a packaging engineer and moved in the UK where I was au pair in Sheffielfd until I found a job in my field at Van Den Bergh Foods in Crawley.

I followed my heart in Strasbourg and worked for Masterfoods as a technichal engineer and as a buyer.

It took me just five years after graduation to realise that there were no place like home ! And in 2006, we were back in Champagne for good !

Before that I underwent a degree in "viticulture" and "oenologie" in Alsacian Rouffach under the tuition of Jean Shätzel.

I gained a lot of knowledge in vine-growing, which I still remember and use today. And I learned a lot about wine-making which I quickly forgot. Wine-making I was taught hadn't change a lot since my Dad started making Champagne : risk-free technology !

I admire my Dad's decision to stop using filtering and technological wine-making techniques in the early 70s. From his coal-selling background, it certainly took him some courage and vision to quit these easy-wine-making methods.

I am pleased I did what I did. I could have become a champagne-producer 15 years ago, but I wouldn't have met all the people I met, I wouldn't speak English, I wouldn't have lived in Sheffield, Crawley or Strasbourg.

I am happy to be where I am. I love making Champagne, drinking Champagne and talking about Champagne.
